Ellen Davis: Owner/Lead Instructor

Bio:

Ellen Davis began training aerial fabric in 2014 and instantly fell in love with the sport. She knew early on that she wanted to share her passion with others, so in the Fall of 2015, Ellen successfully sought certification to teach Beginner Aerial Fabric by the Circus Arts Institute, an ACE recognized teacher training program in Atlanta, GA. After privately teaching for a few months, Ellen founded Cirque Dakota LLC and opened classes to the public on February 1st, 2016.

As students progressed, Ellen continued her own training and became certified to teach Intermediate Aerial Fabric in July of 2016. In addition to aerial fabric, Ellen has also trained dance pole, rope, spanish web, trapeze, acro yoga, hand balancing, and contortion/flexibility.

Ellen is a 2018 graduate of the Full-Time Professional training program at Aloft Circus Arts in Chicago where with a primary focus in aerial fabric and a secondary focus in hand balancing. She is currently taking a break from teaching to recover from an injury.

Outside her aerial activities, Ellen has her Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and works as a part-time Business Analyst. Ellen moved from Lexington, KY to Sioux Falls in August 2015.

 

Joscelyne Gonzalez

Classes taught: Intro to Silks, Silks 1, Open Gym, Advanced Open Gym

Bio:

Joscelyne (Josci) has been a student at Cirque Dakota since June of 2016, but had trained in aerial fabric previously in Mexico. She began working with Ellen in preparation to teach in January 2017, and officially began instructing classes in September 2017. Josci is also a certified yoga instructor. 

In July 2018, Josci became certified to teach beginner fabric by Circus Arts Institute, an ACE recognized teacher training program in Atlanta, GA.

Josci also enjoys lyra (aerial hoop) and acroyoga. Outside of her circus activities, Josci is currently studying engineering at SDSU in Brookings.

Tasha Jenson

Teaching Assistant

Bio:

Tasha is a senior at Brandon Valley High School. An advanced aerialist at Cirque Dakota, Tasha began assisting Josci in September 2017. She has three years of aerial arts training at Cirque Dakota and continued training in Minneapolis and Atlanta. Tasha's favorite things about aerial arts are the thrill of drops, spinning, and trying new things.

In July 2018, Tasha became certified to teach beginner fabric by Circus Arts Institute, an ACE recognized teacher training program in Atlanta, GA. She also completed her classroom hours and is working toward her intermediate certification.

When she's not in the air, Tasha loves spending time with her horses and dog.
